ブログへようこそ!Welcome to the blog!
Hello!
If you’ve studied Japanese before, you have probably heard, “Japanese is a lifelong learning journey.”
It’s true! Beyond even the grammar differences and the many characters you have to learn, there are cultural ideals represented in language such that even after memorizing the functional building blocks of the language, there is always more nuance to discover. Often this makes learning Japanese feel huge and insurmountable, but I believe it can be immensely rewarding and exciting.
I have studied Japanese off and on since I was in 7th grade. I’ve had the opportunity to live with a host family in high school, study in Kyoto and work at an orphanage in college, and then teach English in Japan after college. Still, I have a long way to go! I love learning Japanese, and getting to share my own culture while learning about other cultures. I also like to help others learn Japanese! I teach a beginner’s conversational Japanese course for travelers through the JASGP here in Philly, and like to collect learning resources for my students and for my own studies. If you’re new to learning Japanese, or if you just want to read some thoughts of a fellow traveler on that lifelong path check this space out. I’ll add any useful resource I find here, and offer how I feel they can be useful!
Another kind of path—the famouse Shimanami Kaido bike route in Japan from Honshu to Shikoku!
